A SPRING RETREAT AFTER ALL!
As reported in the June/July 2000 issue, and repeated in the August/September issue, the Retreat Board had decided to have only one retreat in 2001, and that one would be in the Fall. Because there have been so many requests from you all, the Board has reconsidered and in its meeting after this past Fall Retreat decided to go ahead with a Spring Retreat next year. We will meet the last weekend in March (23-25 March 2001), again at Kentucky Dam Village State Park. There will be some changes. There will be no rooms available, but there are very nice 2 bedroom/2 bath cottages for the same price for those willing to share a cottage. The prices for all cottages will be considerably lower in March (than in April).

THAT CRUCIAL ELECTION
The election, the most crucial in our history in my opinion, is finally over. There remains, of course, the voting by the Electoral College, but that is almost certain to be in keeping with the results of the general election. I could devote this entire issue to significant things concerning the election, but will settle here for saying "Thank you!" for caring, for praying and for voting. I do believe that our actions and our votes (or the lack thereof) are recorded in Heaven,

A CRIMINAL CAMPAIGN OF DIRTY TRICKS
Before the election, Al Gore said that he would do anything to win, and he did. This nation has probably never seen a national election so corrupt. The Gore campaign's unethical and criminal activity ranged from buying votes from street people with cigarettes, urging non-citizens to vote and use of White House assets to target and manipulate potential supporters, to the outrageous nullifying (in a variety of ways) of overseas military absentee ballots. Worse, perhaps, was the way the Gore campaign resorted to any measure to overturn the legal results in Florida. This was clearly the rule of law vs. "I'll do anything to win;" and it has placed the foundations of "one nation under God" under direct attack. May God restore us to the rule of law.

WHAT THE ELECTION REVEALED
This crucial election revealed vividly the extent to which the 8 years of Clinton/Gore have divided this nation. They have succeeded in creating envy, fear and hatred: old vs. young, black vs. white, rich vs. poor, working families vs. welfare dependents, inner city vs. small town/rural, etc. This is the classic strategy of despots. If you could see the county-by-county election map in color, you would see it; Gore largely carried only the big cities of the east and west coasts; almost all the rest of the country was carried by Bush. This is what has been laid bare by the demagoging of the Gore campaign; it is what the next president most needs to reverse - to unite us again.

SODOMY FOR CREDIT AT MICHIGAN
At the University of Michigan there is now a course offered for credit which introduces its young men to homosexuality as a lifestyle. Yes, you read it correctly - this is not a joke. The course title is, "How To Be Gay: Male Homosexuality and Initiation." Note the significance of the word, "Initiation." One shudders to think of what the labs will be like.

THE BOMBING OF THE USS COLE - WHY?
Our destroyer, USS Cole, was a sitting duck for the suicide bombing that killed 17 of her crew and nearly sank her. But why was she there, tied up and vulnerable, in a hostile port? Simple. During Clinton/Gore's 8 years in power, one of the ways they emasculated our armed forces was to cut the Navy from 600 ships to 300; among those 300 axed was the fleet oiler that otherwise would have refueled the Cole at sea, where she was safe. Since no oiler was available, she had to tie up in that hostile port to take on Arab fuel. That simple.(ANS/FRC/AFRN)

WOMEN AMONG THE 17 DEAD ON THE USS COLE
Among the 17 sailors killed in the suicide attack on the USS Cole were 2 female sailors; others were wounded, one with multiple wounds to her face. Have you noticed the deafening silence from the establishment media on this? They (and their change agent feminist friends in the White House) have trumpeted loud and long to get those women aboard ships of war and in other combat roles previously restricted to men. THE "RELATIVELY UNIMPORTANT" U.S. DEAD
Our State Department is manned largely by Globalists whose loyalty is to the United Nations - not to the U.S.A. They conceal this fairly well in public, but a stunning memo was leaked. (There was at least one patriot in there). Voice of America (VOA) had prepared a broadcast about the tragic death of our sailors on the Cole; but it was spiked (killed as undesirable) by the State Department. The rationale was that the deaths were not important compared with the deaths of Palestinians in Israel (and, incidentally, it made no mention of Israelis killed). I will spare you the entire memo; the pertinent part reads, "The Department of State does not clear (permit) the referenced VOA editorial... The 17 or so dead sailors does (sic) not compare to the 100-plus Palestinians who have died in recent weeks" (emphasis mine). For the complete story, go to the Drudge Report web site.

THE BRADY BILL HASN'T WORKED
According to a study by the American Medical Association, reported by the New York Times, the restrictions on hand gun ownership imposed by the Brady Bill since 1994 have had no effect in reducing handgun injury and death. The law has, of course, created massive increases in trouble and expense for individuals, dealers and government agencies in its operation. (NYT) And, speaking of gun control, read on...

"MILLION MOM'S MARCH" LEADER SHOOTS TO KILL
The gun control movement staged an emotional media spectacle in Washington, D.C., last summer which they named, "The Million Mom's March." Only a few thousand showed up, but the establishment media gave it major coverage. One of the featured speakers was one Barbara Lipscomb, whose son had been shot and killed in the violence-plagued District of Columbia. The message of the D.C., demonstration was that private ownership of guns must be outlawed in order to stop such violence. According to an investigation by the Washington Post, this Barbara Lipscomb had been arrested months earlier for shooting a man she believed to be responsible for the death of her son. She shot him 3 times; paralyzing him. Then it was discovered that she had shot the wrong man. And then, in the home of this woman held up as an icon for eliminating gun ownership, police found an arsenal of pistols and a Tec-9, a cheap submachine gun-type weapon popular with street criminals. A POINT TO PONDER
Gun control is not about controlling guns - it is about controlling you. Every despot who ever took absolute control of a nation first disarmed the people, in the interests of "safety."

BABIES "NO MORE HUMAN THAN FISH?"
Television star Mary Tyler Moore, a longtime supporter of left-wing and anti-scriptural values and practices, told a congressional committee in September that unborn babies, destroyed to obtain stem cells, "are no more human than fish." This is distressing, for it echoes the position of so many celebrities and politicians today; but it is also interesting, for in late October, Moore's like-minded colleagues from the radical animal rights group, PETA, demonstrated on the Miss Gulf coast for the complete banishment of fishing. Their rationale? Fishing must be abolished, for it causes pain for the fish. (ANS, et al)

UNBORN BABIES DEMONSTRATE MEMORY
In stark contrast with the testimony of Mary Tyler Moore is a study reported in the British medical journal, "Lancet." The study, conducted by Dutch Dr. Cathelijne van Heteren and her colleagues, revealed that unborn babies in their study demonstrated both short-term and long-term memory while still in the womb. JOHN HANCOCK PROMOTES HOMOSEXUAL ADOPTION
During the Olympic Games this past Summer in Australia, John Hancock Financial Services ran an ad on television which featured two lesbians adopting a baby, and declaring themselves "a family." (PWB)

BARNES AND NOBLE, THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE AND THE "GAY" AGENDA
The Anti-Defamation League of B'Nai B'rith, a powerful, left-leaning Jewish lobbying organization, has joined with bookstore giant Barnes and Noble in an ad campaign promoting pro-homosexual "tolerance" books such as "Daddy's Roommate" and "Heather Has Two Mommies." (PWB)

JIMMY CARTER'S HERESY GOES PUBLIC
Jimmy Carter's theological leanings to the left have long been a source of disharmony between him and his Southern Baptist Convention. Now, he has officially left the SBC, citing its "too rigid" biblical standards of belief. According to Dr. R.A. Mohler, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., Carter denies that faith in Jesus is necessary for salvation, doubts the reality of some miracles in the Bible, thinks women should be pastors, supports abortion, and has raised money for "gay" rights activism. GENERAL MOTORS IN THE PORN BUSINESS?
According to a New York Times investigation, General Motors now sells more graphic sex films than Larry Flynt (Clinton friend and owner of the "Hustler" porn empire)! How could this be? The answer is simple, and more and more common, as corporate America is increasingly invested in porn: GM owns DirecTV, the satellite TV company that sells $200 million in pay-per-view sex films annually from its satellite. AT&T NOW THE TOP PORN PROVIDER
For $58 Billion, the communications giant, AT&T, has purchased Media One Group, Inc., and its "Hot Network," a pay-per-view channel with hard core porn films. Added to the porn providers AT&T already carries (Playboy Channel and Spice Network), this makes it the number one provider of television subscription pornography. In addition, AT&T owns a company that sells sex videos to almost a million hotel rooms. Like Disney enterprises, this communications giant once was family-friendly, but is now the family's dangerous enemy. How tragic for the company originally founded by Alexander Graham Bell, devout Christian who intended his invention to help the deaf! As Cal Thomas has observed, AT&T has "turned Ma Bell into a harlot," and has caused Bell's historic words, the first ever transmitted by telephone, "Mr. Watson, come here; I want you," to take on new meaning. GREAT NEWS ABOUT THE GREAT FLOOD!
An undersea archeology team led by Robert Ballard, the man who discovered the Titanic (as well as the Bismark and the Yorktown) has made a "titanic" discovery! In the Black Sea, 12 miles off the coast of Turkey, he has discovered an ancient coastline, with freshwater mollusk shells (now extinct) dating to 7,000 years ago, collocated with saltwater shells dating to 6,500 years ago. In Ballard's words, "So we know that there was a sudden and dramatic change from a freshwater lake to a saltwater sea 7,000 years ago." Even more convincing is their discovery of definite evidence of human habitation by this ancient lake now 300 feet under the Black Sea; in Ballard's words, "Artifacts at the site are clearly well preserved - with carved wooden beams, wooden branches and stone tools." Speaking of this new evidence of a great flood 7,000 years ago, he summarized this landmark discovery: "And we know that, as a result of that flood, a vast amount of land went under water. And we now know that that land was inhabited." Said Professor Fredrick Hiebert of the University. of Pennsylvania, the expedition's chief archeologist, "This is a major discovery that will begin to rewrite the history... of the ancient Middle East." THE AIR FORCE CHEAPENS THE BRONZE STAR
The Air Force has awarded the Bronze Star, the nation's fourth highest combat award, to hundreds of its own who never even got close to a battlefield during Clinton's bombing of the relatively helpless Serbs. Some "fought" that war in Missouri, others in Ohio, the Pentagon, Italy, England, Germany and Spain. One hundred ninety-two of the 246 phony Bronze Stars went to senior officers of the rank of major and higher. In this dismal break with tradition, the Air Force is redefining "combat" like Clinton redefined "sex" - and earning the same contempt from real warriors and veterans. Jim Spencer of the Newport Daily News suggests that the next step will be to award Purple Hearts to "senior officers who develop carpal tunnel syndrome from clicking the mouse in documents that include the word 'airpower.'" Seriously, though, it seems to be part of a policy to make everyone feel "okay" about themselves - in the same tradition as awarding meaningless diplomas to people who can't read them. Never mind the betrayal of those who wear the medals and actually earned them. I see young airmen (and women) who have never been to war, but wear 3 or 4 rows of ribbons. On the other hand, I will never forget a young Marine, just back from a real war in Korea, looking fine and strait in his greens. He had only two ribbons - the Purple Heart and the Korean Service Medal - and one arm. The empty right sleeve of his green coat was pinned neatly up to the shoulder. Not many ribbons on his chest - but they meant something, and he had earned them.

SOME SIGNIFICANT TRUTH ABOUT "PALESTINIANS"
Our friend Joe Farah (an Arab-American) has published a brilliant article on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Due to limited space, I can only summarize pertinent facts; consider these: In the 1967 war, Israel seized Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem, but from King Hussein - not Arafat. "Palestine" has never existed as an autonomous entity. There is no language known as "Palestinian." There is no distinct Palestinian culture. "Palestinians" are simply Arabs, indistinguishable from Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc. They speak Arabic. Jerusalem is not even mentioned in the Koran. There are no (genuine) Muslim holy sites in Israel. Interesting? You bet - and pertinent to the ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict. SELLOUT BY THE SENATE - A CORRECTION
In the last issue, I reported on the sordid affair in the office of Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, in which the Senate leadership announced that the acquittal of President Clinton in his impeachment trial was already decided before the trial. The situation was even more sordid and shameful than I reported, but one point needs clarification; although Lott stood there in silent agreement, it was actually Sen. Ted Stevens (R) of Alaska who said, "I don't care if you proved he raped a woman and then stood up and shot her dead (you won't get the necessary votes)." At that point, David Schippers, Chief Counsel for the Clinton Impeachment, asked a question of Stevens: "I just watched 100 senators raise their right hands to God, and swear to do equal and impartial justice... are you telling me that the senators are going to ignore that oath also?" Stevens snapped, "You're (expletive) right they are!" And so, the president's acquittal was determined before the trial began - by the Senate leadership, both Republican and Democrat. They, led by Lott, forbad the House to present its evidence and then, in violation of the Constitution and the specific oath they had just taken (they, as you may recall, stepped forward, one by one, took the oath and signed it). The trial was a complete sham. It was probably the most disgraceful moment in the history of the Senate. MARTY'S CORNER
The Conversations We Aren't Having editorial in Good News magazine expressed the failure of local church leaders to address the massive destruction of morality in our culture. "What is the city set on a hill doing about the fact that all the sewers on the hill are backing up?" It seems the Great Commission has been changed to 'Go ye into the world and preach apathy' for if all the sewers are backing up, perhaps God won't notice the stench.
The editorial is primarily about the fact that the common concern from laity is, "Our pastor won't address any of the serious moral problems tearing away at our society." The reticence of the clergy to discuss frankly and then publicly urge a renewed faithfulness to the great principles of biblical faith and moral truth is not the only problem. Pastors won't even reveal the heretical dogma being embraced by the church hierarchy, and only mumble worriedly if asked about it. Many are annoyed that theological conversations are even attempted… perhaps fearful of losing their positions? We've been lulled to sleep by "don't talk about religion or politics" even though they intertwine and are the most important topics to discuss - the former affects us forever and the latter affects present and future generations.
As father to son, king to future king, David told Solomon to keep the charge of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statues, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies…(I Kings 2:3) Ultimately, Solomon failed. Early in his career he ignored God's law for political reasons and then for sexual reasons and it just got worse - the sewer backed up completely. We need pastors/leaders to address our present day stench now.

THE DANGER OF HORROR STORIES
Something I long ago came to realize, and partially understand, is the relationship between horror stories (print or film) and sexual perversion. Observe the scene, ask a few honest homosexuals, and you will find this. Stories/games involving horror, cruelty, bloody mayhem, etc., are like any sin - there is never enough. If a stabbing is cool, it isn't when compared with shotgun killing; and that pales beside chainsaws; I think you see what I mean. And this phenomenon is deeply related to sexual perversion. Consider "snuff porn:" this is a porn film which ends in the actual (or apparently actual) killing of the person in the film. Consider a more recent invention, "crush videos;" in these, animals are slowly crushed to death (really!), while the viewer watches. There's never enough. Jeffrey Dahmer didn't do what he did because he preferred young boys to filet mignon; he did it because he was hideously perverted and it took escalating perversions for him to find pleasure. Consider the entire matter of sado-masochism (inflicting/receiving pain is necessary to achieve pleasure); a common cause of death among homosexuals (and their victims) is S&M carried a little too far. So what does this have to do with horror stories? They open the door for thoughts, and then desires which, if not dealt with, may eventually lead to actions, to compulsions and destruction. Horror stories, slasher movies and gory games are a doorway to perversion and bondage. They are a deadly presence in the lives of children; if you love yours, cleanse your home of these things.
